Gluten-Free Apple Croutons


These can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for several days. If time is short, use a commercial brand of apple chips.

2 apples, such as Granny Smith or McIntosh, cored
⅓ cup firmly packed light brown sugar

1. Preheat oven to 300F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Cut apples into 8 slices. Spread slices in one layer over prepared baking sheet and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar.

3. Place on middle rack of preheated oven and bake 20 minutes or until golden. Transfer immediately to a rack to cool.

Each crouton contains 30 calories, 0g total fat, 0g saturated fat, 0g trans fat, 0mg cholesterol, 0mg sodium, 8g carbohydrate, 0g fiber, 0g protein.
