Living Without's Favorite Books: Bite On This

Nixing gluten doesn’t mean nixing traditional, family-favorite foods. Nosh on This: Gluten-Free Baking from a Jewish-American Kitchen (The Experiment) by Lisa Stander-Horel and Tim Horel contains more than 100 recipes for classic and inventive baked goods. From bagels and babka to donuts, rolls and challah, you’ll find an array of everyday items and holiday treats, many dairy-free. The book even has a bonus chapter, “Out of a Box,” for making almost-from-scratch delicacies when time is short. Tim Horel’s photos lusciously illustrate his wife’s recipes. We’re thankful that gluten intolerance didn’t stop this couple from rediscovering their rich culinary heritage. Now all their delicious know-how gets passed on to us.
