Living Without's Favorites: Good Eats

Five kids and seven different dietary needs inspired Jill Motew to create Zema’s Madhouse Foods, a company that offers baking mixes that work for the whole family. These vegan and gluten-free mixes contain super-nutritious, ancient grains—teff, quinoa, amaranth, millet, flaxmeal, chia seeds and hemp seeds. They’re allergy friendly and free of refined sugar, yeast, sesame and rice with no additives, preservatives or trans fats. There are four baking mixes in all, each designed for multiple uses. (Helpful recipes are posted on Zema’s Foods website.) For instance, gluten-free Cocoa Teff Pancake & Waffle Mix (rich in protein, calcium, potassium and iron) can start your day with pancakes or muffins and it can round out your evening meal with brownies or cookies. A hearty nutrient profile blends with wholesome good taste.
