One hot summer afternoon, Joe Wallace of San Antonio noticed that his dog Sam was acting restless and uncomfortable. The 2-year-old border collie mix kept twisting and turning to frenetically chew on the base of his tail. As the behavior continued, Wallace took a closer look at his pet and found patches on Sam’s hind legs where the fur was thinning and an angry red sore forming on Sam’s rear.
