Sweeter baking with fewer calories
With the nations obesity rates at an all-time high and the accompanying rise in diabetes, many of us are looking for ways to limit our sugar intake. Enter stevia, a plant that's been used as a sweetener in Asia and South America for more than 1500 years. Recently approved by the FDA, stevia has a glycemic index of zero and contains no calories. Even better, stevia can be used in baking as heat does not change its flavor.
