Living Without Books: Bon Appetit! - French Cooking with Julia Childs

It's never too late for love, for learning, for living.  My Life in France (Anchor Books) by Julia Child with Alex Prud'homme is the true story of Child’s life, full of romance and adventure. Julia was 34 when she married Paul Child whom she had met in Sri Lanka during World War II. The somewhat gauche and provincial Julia had never cooked a meal. Ten years older, Paul was a sophisticated bon vivant. So Julia learned to cook for Paul. Somewhere in the process, her delight in the food and her interest in the how-to morphed into a cooking obsession. In 1951, Child befriended two women who were “working on a cookbook.”  Ten years later, Mastering the Art of French Cooking was published and Child’s career was launched. Lifelong friends, lifelong passions, lifelong love—My Life in France is a wonderful read to commemorate Valentine’s Day.
