I was told by a vendor of Cabot cheese that their aged extra sharp cheddar is actually lactose free. They actually had a flyer with a similar claim. Does anyone know if this is true? Has anyone tried it? It would make an affordable substitute. A dream come true!
I've found Daiya cheese to be good mixed in sauces, but I would like to find something good I can put with crackers or fruit. Please post if you've tried any dairy-free cheeses with a good stand alone flavor.
